Job description

Our client invites applications for the position of Temporary Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to older persons across acute, rehabilitation, ambulatory and community settings.

The appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of comprehensive geriatric assessment services and support integrated models of care for older adults

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-led care for older persons with complex medical needs.

  • Participate in inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory and community geriatric services.

  • Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning.

  • Support service development initiatives in Older Persons Services.

  • Contribute to teaching, training and supervision of medical staff.

  • Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.

  • Participate in the consultant on-call rota as required

Job requirements

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be registered as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Irish Medical Council.

  • Have completed higher specialist training in Geriatric Medicine or possess equivalent specialist experience.

  • Demonstrate excellent clinical, communication and leadership skills.

  • Be eligible to work in Ireland.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in stroke medicine, frailty services, rehabilitation medicine or integrated care for older persons.

  • Evidence of involvement in research, teaching or service improvement projects.
