Role Overview

Under the supervision of a Consultant and Clinical Director, the Registrar in Medicine will participate in and deliver a high-quality General Internal Medicine service. You will manage acute admissions, perform daily ward rounds, and support on-call and weekend rosters. Continuous professional development through structured educational programmes (HSELanD/CME) is a core part of the role .

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily ward rounds and manage inpatients, acute admissions, and emergency cases.

  • Provide on-call coverage (General Internal Medicine), including nights and weekends.

  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary team meetings and liaise with allied health professionals.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to clinical governance standards.

  • Engage in professional development activities, audits, and quality improvement projects

Job requirements

Eligibility & Essential Qualifications

  • Fully registered with the Irish Medical Council (active IMC registration clearly stated on CV) 

  • Proven experience in General Internal Medicine (minimum 2–5 years post-internship, depending on vacancy).

  • Demonstrable GIM on-call experience (mandatory)

  • Evidence of English language competency (IELTS or OET), where applicable 

  • Postgraduate qualifications (MRCPI, MRCPUK) and BLS/ACLS desirable 

  • Two professional references (minimum one from most recent employer) 

  • International Security (Police) Clearance
