Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated General Medicine Registrar to join our client’s medical team from January 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical skills and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive teaching environment.

As a General Medicine Registrar, you will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of senior consultants. You will also play a key role in supporting junior medical staff and participating in educational activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients admitted under General Medicine.

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and develop appropriate management plans.

  • Liaise with consultants, allied health professionals, nursing staff, and other departments.

  • Supervise and support interns and residents.

  • Participate in daily ward rounds, clinical meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and effective handover of patient care.

  • Engage in quality improvement and clinical audit activities.

  • Participate in the after-hours and on-call roster as required.

Job requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.

  • Registration with the Medical Council of Ireland.

  • At least 2 years of postgraduate clinical experience, preferably including general medicine.

  • Enrolment in or eligibility for a recognised specialist training program in General/Internal Medicine.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in teaching junior staff and medical students.

  • Participation in clinical research or audit projects.

  • Interest in subspecialty areas within General Medicine.
