Job description

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and motivated Practice Nurse to join their modern, well-established General Practice in Co. Cork. This practice is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centred healthcare to the local community. Their supportive and collaborative team includes 2 GPs and excellent admin and reception staff.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Your role will cover a broad range of primary care clinical duties, including but not limited to:

  • Adult & Childhood Immunisations: Delivering seasonal flu, COVID-19, routine adult vaccines, and the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule.

  • Chronic Disease Management (CDM): Active involvement in structured General Practice CDM programmes and dedicated Diabetes Clinics.

  • Cardiology Care: Performing Resting ECGs and fitting/interpreting 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors (ABPM).

  • Women’s & Female Health: Cervical screening (CervicalCheck registered), contraception advice, and general female healthcare.

  • Phlebotomy & Injections: Routine blood sampling, therapeutic injections, and administration of prescribed medications.

  • Skin & Wound Care: Wound assessment, dressings, suture/staple removal, and basic ulcer care.

  • General Practice Administration: Accurate clinical documentation and record-keeping using the Socrates practice management software.

Working Hours

20 hours per week

4 morning sessions and 1 afternoon session (flexible)

Job requirements

NMBI Registration: Active registration as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Experience: Previous experience in a General Practice or primary care environment is highly desirable.

Clinical Certifications:

  • CervicalCheck registration (or willing to obtain).

  • Up-to-date CPR / BLS certification.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
