Locum Senior Registrar in Psychiatry

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Locum Senior Registrar in Psychiatry to join a multidisciplinary mental health team within the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE). This role involves providing high-quality psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, depending on the service configuration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients under consultant supervision

• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, MDT meetings, and case reviews

• Liaise with GPs, primary care services, and community mental health teams

• Contribute to care planning, risk assessment, and safeguarding procedures

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records and documentation

• Participate in audit, research, and teaching where applicable

• Take part in the on-call rota (where required)

Essential Requirements:

• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)

• At least 3 years of psychiatry experience (ideally including registrar-level experience)

• MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification

• Eligibility to work in Ireland (EU citizenship or appropriate visa/work permit)

• Strong clinical and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Up-to-date training in BLS, Manual Handling, and PMAV (or willingness to obtain)

• Driving License required

Desirable:

• Experience working in the Irish mental health system

• Interest in teaching or academic psychiatry
