Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Our client is seeking applications for the post of Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality, comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical services across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care settings. This role involves both clinical service delivery and active involvement in medical education, clinical research, and service development.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert assessment, diagnosis, and management (surgical and non-surgical) of conditions affecting the head, neck, face, jaws, and oral structures.

• Provide clinical leadership in complex cases, including facial trauma, oncology, orthognathic surgery, salivary gland disease, and reconstructive procedures.

• Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings with oncology, ENT, orthodontics, plastic surgery, and restorative dentistry teams.

• Participate in the consultant on-call roster for emergency oral and maxillofacial surgery.

• Supervise, train, and mentor Specialist Registrars, NCHDs, and dental/medical trainees.

• Drive clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, and research within the department

Qualifications & Requirements

• Medical Registration: Full registration on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

• Experience: Significant post-qualification experience at senior trainee or consultant level in a high-volume acute clinical environment.

• Language Proficiency: High level of English language competency (written and spoken).
