Job description

Our client invites applications for the position of Temporary Consultant Geriatrician to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to older adults across acute, rehabilitative, and community settings.

As part of the broader integrated care strategy for older persons, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and deliver innovative, age-attuned services aligned with Sláintecare principles and HSE National Clinical Programme for Older People.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-led specialist assessment and care for older adults across acute, intermediate care, day hospital, and/or community settings.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of integrated care pathways for frailty, dementia, and complex comorbidities.

  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, service planning, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Supervise and support junior medical staff, medical students, and allied health professionals in training.

  • Participate in the general medicine on-call rota (if applicable)

Job requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Registration (or eligibility to register) on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in the specialty of Geriatric Medicine.

  • Possession of an appropriate postgraduate qualification (e.g., MRCP, MRCPI, FRCP, or equivalent).

  • At least 2 years of satisfactory postgraduate training and experience in Geriatric Medicine.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills.
