Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant General Physician to join their medical team.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical care across general medicine, working collaboratively with consultant colleagues, specialist teams, nursing staff, allied health professionals and other healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-level assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with acute and general medical conditions.

  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient services as required.

  • Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based clinical care.

  • Participate in the on-call rota and acute medical services.

  • Supervise, support and educate NCHDs, medical students and other healthcare professionals.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical decision-making.

  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively with hospital and community services to support integrated patient care.

  • Maintain professional competence and comply with HSE policies, clinical guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.

Job requirements

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold specialist registration with the Medical Council of Ireland in the relevant specialty, or be eligible for registration.

  • Have appropriate qualifications and experience in General/Internal Medicine.

  • Demonstrate substantial clinical experience appropriate to consultant level.

  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to high standards of patient care, clinical governance and continuous professional development.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more relevant areas of general medicine, such as acute medicine, elderly medicine, respiratory medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology or another medical specialty, would be advantageous.
