Job description

Woodston Personnel have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Adult Renal Transplant Surgeon with our client in KSA. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing renal transplant surgeries, providing expert care to patients with end-stage renal disease, and contributing to the advancement of transplant services within our institution.

The ideal candidate will have advanced training in renal transplantation, extensive clinical experience, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through high-quality care and surgical expertise.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Surgical Care: Perform adult renal transplant surgeries, including deceased donor and living donor renal transplants. Manage complex cases related to transplantation, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.

  • Patient Management: Provide expert care for patients before and after transplant surgery, including assessment, optimization, and long-term follow-up care.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with nephrologists, transplant coordinators, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.

  • Post-Transplant Care: Monitor and manage transplant recipients for complications such as graft rejection, infection, and other post-transplant issues. Provide long-term follow-up care to ensure transplant success.

  • Training & Education: Mentor and train junior surgeons, fellows, medical students, and residents in renal transplantation surgery and related topics. Lead educational initiatives and contribute to the academic development of the department.

  • Research & Quality Improvement: Lead or participate in research projects aimed at advancing the field of renal transplantation. Contribute to quality improvement efforts, including patient safety, transplant outcomes, and care delivery processes.

  • Patient & Family Communication: Clearly explain the risks, benefits, and process of renal transplantation to patients and their families. Provide counseling and emotional support throughout the transplant process.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certification:

    • US Board Certification in Renal Transplant Surgery or equivalent (e.g., FRCS from Ireland, UK, Canada, New Zealand, or Australia).

    • Diploma d'Etudes Spécialisées (DES) / CIS (French Board).

    • Facharzt & Sub-Board / Fellowship in Renal Transplant Surgery with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience post-Board / Fellowship.

    • Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) from the UK (preferred).

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-4 years of post-Board / Fellowship experience in adult renal transplant surgery, with a proven track record in both living and deceased donor renal transplantation.

    • Experience in managing complex cases related to transplant surgery, including post-operative care.

    • Expertise in the full spectrum of adult renal transplant procedures and associated technologies.

  • Skills:

    • Strong clinical and surgical skills in the management of adult renal transplant patients.

    • Proficiency in the use of advanced transplant technologies, including diagnostic tools, and surgical techniques.

    • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to transplant patients.

    • Excellent communication skills, particularly in conveying complex information to patients and their families.

  • Professional Development:

    • Ongoing commitment to continuous professional development in renal transplantation, including staying up to date with the latest research, techniques, and technologies in the field.
